Someone Kills Mrs. Andrew Topping

Mrs. Andrew Topping, the wife of an Upper West Side man arrested for plotting to kill Nixon, died of gunshot wounds on April 6, 1972, two weeks after the Watergate break-in. Her death was declared a suicide… soon after she returned from the hospital having given birth to their son. Wounds. Andrew Topping told police that “pro-rightist forces” beyond his control caused his wife’s death. Topping, a far right-wing ex-GI and Vietnam veteran carried a small notebook with him, and in minuscule script was constantly jotting down his thoughts. Police suspect Topping of once having been in army intelligence – in fact he does have contacts in the DIA. Authorities were alerted to Topping’s desires to kill Nixon after he blamed his wife’s death on far-right forces who wanted to kill him because he knew about Nixon’s connection to the plot to assassinate John F. Kennedy. Topping is a violent, convicted rapist – he claims to have been a CIA assassin. In August of 1972, Andrew was arrested in Central Park for plotting to kill President Nixon. He asked a Secret Service agent, undercover, pretending to be an assassin for hire to kill Nixon.
