Nixon’s IRS Goes After Meier

Meier was indicted by the IRS for unreported earnings from land holdings of the Hughes empire in which he held shares. Meier sought immunity in exchange for testimony to the Watergate committee. Meier tried to convince the Watergate investigators that he could prove himself a valuable witness. But unfortunately for the truth, it played out exactly like the Jack Ruby meetings with Earl Warren – which came equally late in the discovery phase – when the Chief Justice was ready to send his committee’s report to presses dismissing any notion of any conspiracy.
