E. Howard Hunt is in touch with senior CIA officer Peter Jessup, who is with the National Security Council staff. On or about the same day, Hunt meets privately again with CIA’s Lucien “Lou” Conein asking for CIA-affiliated getaway pilots. (Conein is being considered for a secret role in the new DEA which will be headed by Caulfield – Conein’s job there will be to assassinate Mexican drug smugglers.) Conein suggests Hunt use younger guys with the right pedigree – he suggests the U.N. Ambassador’s son who is a trained chase pilot based out of Houston. Hunt goes to meet the kid.
